Types of Course Offered

Financial Training is offered both in products and in skills.

Computer simulations, case studies, worked examples and group discussions give many of our classes a workshop atmosphere, while other subjects repay a more formal, taught approach.

Topics covered include The City & its Markets, credit, interest rates and foreign exchange, equity, fixed income and hybrid capital markets products and their derivatives, asset and liability management, capital adequacy and regulation, commodities, emerging markets, portfolio management, money laundering avoidance and trade finance to name a few. Private banks from many jurisdictions have been our clients.

Risk Management training encompasses some advanced product knowledge together with awareness of settlements. Financial risk, market risk, event risk and the wide range of methods of accepting, limiting, off-laying and transferring risks are among the areas examined.

Risks of all types can be reviewed, and clients will use some of our programmes as opportunities of challenging their accepted risk tolerances before investigating alternative methods of managing these risks.

Risk awareness:  Against a background of increasing change in to-day's business and economic environment, this programme is designed to ensure that professionals have a strong awareness of risk and an understanding of how this will affect their day-to-day business activities.

Topics covered include industry stability, competitive threats, the reliability of financial information, the importance of cash, corporate failure and warning signals, management assessment and corporate governance, and the changing nature of the business cycle.

Human Resource training takes many forms and brings together many varied disciplines.

From courses to improve all aspects of customer service, to how to deal with change at senior management level, Russell & Associates is proud to provide multi-level practical training and facilitation for a variety of financial and other institutions across the world.

Interpersonal skills, communication techniques, time management and presentation skills are some which, taught and practised, give employees a competitive advantage and assist with the maintenance of valued client relationships. Selling skills for the salesperson in wholesale financial markets has been particularly successful.

Senior Executive Coaching Executive and non-executive directors and senior management all too frequently have become experts solely in their chosen fields and regularly admit to limited knowledge in related areas.

One of the most effective methods of remedying some of those deficiencies has been shown to be one-on-one coaching. Fitting in to diary schedules, and sympathetic to other calls on the executive's time, Russell & Associates has gained considerable experience in working to broaden the financial knowledge of some very senior individuals on appointment, or as promotions require exposure to fresh disciplines.

CPD Training for the lawyer

Russell & Associates is accredited as an approved provider of Continuing Professional Development training by The Law Society.

Much of the emphasis of our recent work has been directed towards improving the commercial awareness of fee earners.  A broader understanding of the application of finance, and of the choices available to clients assists the lawyer.  It helps avoid unnecessary friction in client relationships, and helps the professional to manage his relationships pro-actively.  It can be an aid in the retention of existing clients.

Study Abroad and Reward & Incentive packages

Groups visiting the United Kingdom, and London in particular, whether for formal learning or for incentive or reward, have found that Russell & Associates understands their needs, and has the ability to combine education with cultural and pleasure programmes.
